Will looks down at the sheet, fingers worrying the edge. “I thought we were being careful. Taking our time.”
Mike swallows. “I thought I was too.” He lets out a small, sad breath. “I was wrong.”
Will looks back up. “So what are you saying?”
Mike’s chest tightens. This is it. The place where he either steps back—or finally names the truth.
“I’m saying I need something to change,” he says. “Or I’m going to break.”
The words hang there, bare and undeniable.
Will’s eyes flicker. “I don’t know if I can give you what you’re asking for. Not yet.”
Mike nods. He’d known this answer was possible. Knowing doesn’t make it hurt less. Summary
Three months after the truth finally came out, Mike Wheeler and Will Byers are together, and still trying to figure out how to build a life with each other.
Rosecliff Manor no longer feels quite as haunted as it once did. Will is making a home there. Mike is trying to step back into the world. Lily is determined to make sure neither of them takes anything too seriously.
But the past doesn't disappear just because they've chosen to move forward. As Mike begins facing the grief he spent years hiding from, Will discovers that some shadows are harder to escape.

As if getting dragged into the Upside Down and making everyone rescue him a second time wasn’t bad enough, this time, somehow, Will also leaves the Upside Down with the ability to read people’s minds.
At least he’s not throwing up slugs this time.or;
Will gets telepathic powers, and can't control them. Through this, he accidentally learns that his best friend is having some less than heterosexual thoughts.

Summary
In the summer of 1989, the Byers family moves to Montauk, cutting short Mike and Will's last summer together before college. Certain he'll never see his friend again, Will confesses his love on their last night together, rocking Mike's world entirely. As the tear-filled goodbyes draw to a close, however, Mike is suddenly offered the unexpected opportunity to travel with the Byers family and help them move.
They have five days out of state together to address Will's confession, learn to communicate, and maybe, just maybe, say a few things they should have said all along.
