Ethan's breath hitched, and he took a step forward. He was so used to Kronos allowing Luke shifts in his body while Kronos's spirit shifted to a higher plane. Ethan had never seen the two fight too extensively for control.
"It is no matter," Kronos managed. "I have allowed Luke many releases with that dreadful empousa Kelli, though the feeling hollows and surges. I believe that if I allow him one release in the way he would really like, then this ridiculousness will be quashed once and for all. He knocked before he could talk himself out of it, and then turned away to pick at his lip, nail digging in until he could taste blood. A minute passed, and then two- Lawrence had definitely been asleep, Adam could picture him fitting on his prosthetic, his lips pressed together in focus as he secured it. Oddly, the image settled something in his chest.
Footsteps, one heavier than the other, approached the door. Adam scratched at his forearm, waiting for the click of the lock, the turn of the handle as the door swung open to reveal an extremely sleep-rumpled and exhausted looking Lawrence.

Lawrence shook the excess water from his hands before grabbing a towel to fully dry them. He turned to face Adam, grabbing his hips and walking him backwards to press him against the kitchen island, and leaned down to press a soft, slow kiss to his lips. “And where are we going?”
Adam’s forearms rested on his shoulders, the fingers of his right hand idly playing with the blonde locks of the taller man’s hair. “So there’s this festival going on. Uh, back in my hometown actually.”

“And about as soft as a pillow.” Lawrence said sadly. It wasn’t a jab, it was an acknowledgment of Adam’s true nature. His empathy, his humanity. Something he should’ve lost a long time ago but never did, something he managed to cling onto even in the darkness of it all.
It was an acknowledgment of Adam’s heart.
“Not everyone knows that.” Adam replied, his hand reaching up to grab Lawrence's. He intertwined their fingers, kissing his boyfriend’s knuckles gently.
“They will after this, you know that, right?” Lawrence asked. Adam shrugged.
“As long as Daniel’s okay, I don’t give a shit what they know and what they don’t.” Adam stated.
