Summary
This story focuses on letters that Steve and Eddie wrote back and forth after meeting at a pride event in 1987 in Indianapolis. I did my best to capture the feelings of being a gay man in the late 1980s and did a ton of research on what life was like back then, and what sort of things gay men wrote to each other. It's as historically accurate as I could make it as someone who wasn't alive in the 80's, because queer history is important me.
This is a love story. There is no pain, no homophobia (aside from the general vibes of the 1980s), just a story about two men falling in love through letters. It's dedicated to those we lost to homophobia, those who survived it, and those who deal with it every day. I encourage you all to look into the history of your citys pride events! I did a lot of research on Indy's pride (even tho I'm not from there!) and it was such a fascinating journey! This pride month take a look at when it all started for your city!
I will release 2 letters as often as possible, and the final chapter will be on June 30th to round out Pride Month. Enjoy!
