"What the fuck is happening, dude?" Gerard asks. The grip of Frank's hand on his is starting to hurt.
"It's on the news, Gee. They're saying it's a new epidemic and that it's contagious and it spreads fast, but no one can tell how you get it. People are going catatonic, or just acting fucking weird. Like that girl at the bar."
Gerard blinks against the darkness and he can't really wrap his mind around it. "But I'm fine."
"Yeah that's why I'm getting you out. The moment they find out you're special, you'll be a lab rat."
Gerard is sick. He can't eat, he can't go under the sun, his teeth feel wrong. Frank has seen enough horror movies to know where this is going. However, the kicker is that this one curse doesn't stem from hatred but grief, and removing the jinx might take a lot more than they're willing to give.

Summary
All his life, Gerard has written stories and drawn comics to cope with tragedy. After an attempt on his life, he gets cursed, and is forced into the worlds he created along with Ray, Frank, and Mikey.
The only way home is to keep his friends from dying by the time the story ends. If one of them dies, Gerard is stuck in the world until all his friends are dead.
