    Summary

Haven isn’t a place where you’d expect miracles to happen, so when Vash arrives with Meryl and Milly, he’s expecting a quiet few days to relax while the girls research their next story. He’s not prepared to find Nicholas D. Wolfwood, the man he mourned and buried two years ago, moving and breathing and very much alive. And also missing all of his memories.

To Nico, Haven is home. He might not remember his past or the kind of person he was before he stumbled into Haven’s welcoming arms, but he’s happy. Sometimes, he’s not sure he wants to know any of that seeing as his first memory is digging himself out of the grave. But when Vash the Stampede comes to town, he raises all kinds of questions about who Nico really is and he’s determined to get answers. Even if the idiot keeps trying to dodge him.

A story about finding home, rediscovering love, and finally using your blank ticket to the future.

    Summary

"You are so annoying," Nicholas grumbles, but he leans over so Vash can pluck the cigarette from his hand. The fingers of Vash's metal arm are warm, as if they've been absorbing the heat of the suns all day and are reluctant to let it go. Vash lifts the cigarette to his mouth and Nicholas braces himself for a fit of coughing and choking, but Vash just inhales smoothly and exhales without a hitch in his breath, seeming to savor the smoke on his tongue.

"Not bad," Nicholas says grudgingly, and Vash gives him a lazy smile.

"You think I've never had one of these before?" he says, lifting the cigarette to his mouth again. "Come on, Wolfwood. What else do you think I've never done?"

Just because Nicholas has never seen Vash smoke doesn't mean he doesn't know how. Maybe there are a lot of things like this.

    Summary

Vash should've seen it coming, really: one moment, he was arguing with Wolfwood, voices stiff and straining with frustration. The next, he's rammed against the wall, breathing heavily as Wolfwood's arm pins him in place.

It would be easy to dislodge him, then hide in the bathroom for a shower that would do little to wash off the craving and inadequacy Wolfwood's proximity provokes—or to go back downstairs to get drunk at the bar, and later tumble in bed like nothing happened. It's a familiar routine.

However, something is different this time: Wolfwood seems to have no intention to let him go.

    Summary

When a godforsaken desert planet has two suns, it shouldn't surprise anyone that it gets damn hot. Least of all, Nicholas D. Wolfwood- who complains anyways. Luckily, plants run cooler than humans do, and Vash's robotic arm is conveniently made of heat resistant lost tech. Heat and tension is at a fever pitch- how will planet Gunsmoke's worst priest and most wanted quench it?

    Summary

"What did the Eye do to you?" Vash asks finally, and Wolfwood laughs, brittle.

    "Already said."

"When you were bleeding out and half-conscious." He can't remember the last time Vash was this terse. "I'd like more clarity. I'd even go so far as to say I'm owed some."

Following their escape from the Ark, Vash tries to start a conversation between him and Wolfwood about the messy truths behind their respective existences. (Wolfwood Whump Week 2024, belated Day Five: Cosmic Horror)
