It’s poetic, Lizzie thinks as they dance. Their relationship has always been like this. Moving together in tandem on a slanted surface. They could topple at any moment if one moves without the other. Their entire relationship could crumble with one wrong move or one accidental step. Throughout their entire lives, they’ve slipped up. Toppled over and off, because fighting is a lot like dancing. Climbed back up, because deep down, they both always knew that they couldn’t possibly fathom a life without the other.

“There’s a reason I’m on this side of the bed, isn’t there?” Hope spoke out into the silence, disrupting Lizzie's calm.
“Whatever do you mean?” Lizzie repeated Hope’s earlier words, a sleepy smile on her face.
When Hope didn't say anything, Lizzie felt watched, knowing Hope had to be glaring at her. “You’re closer to the door. First dibs if a monster comes in.”
“Giving you time to run?”
