Yanqing blushed stammering “N-nothing, General.” And he flinched back when all his caretaker did was cross his arms. “I just…” There was no getting out of this. Was there? Sighing, he held the wooden blade to his chest “I found this in one of the closets and wanted to try practicing like you do…”

Summary
“Mimi, this is Yanqing.” The monster’s ear twitched. “He's going to be staying with us for a while.” The General's voice turned cold again as he faced it. “So play nice.”
Flicking its tail harshly against the floor, the lion turned and stalked away. With a shake of his head, the General sighed “I apologize for her behavior.” He says, carefully squeezing Yanqing's shoulder, looking down at the boy. “She doesn't like sharing much.” Yanqing just nodded, how else was he meant to respond? This man was living with a monster. A monster that clearly didn't like him.

Summary
First memories were a fickle thing. But for most people they’re completely innocent. Running through the woods. Playing with their mom or dad. Drawing on the furniture with permanent markers. Yanqing’s first memories were red.
_____________There’s a face. Pale hair and golden eyes that look straight at him. This is it. This is the end. This man is going to kill him. He trembles, but forces himself to point the stick at the man in white.
Only the man does something that the boy doesn’t expect. He kneels down and holds his hands up, a small smile crossing his face. Why is he smiling? Why is he smiling? “Hello there, little one.” His voice is… kind. Soft. He doesn’t trust it. Can’t trust it. “I’m a member of the Cloud Knights, you’re safe. I promise.”
