Summary
Hikaru doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get any of it.
Some days, it feels like Yoshiki just wants as much distance between himself and Hikaru as he can get. Other days, it’s like being away from Hikaru would kill him. Hikaru can’t tell what’s gonna set Yoshiki off or not, and it’s not like looking at the memories would help. He got moody like this before, but only when Hikaru tried to talk about girls or Yoshiki leaving one day, and never for as long as he does now.
Is he doing something wrong?
“Hey, Yoshiki?” he calls ahead. “What d’ya reckon we should do for my birthday?”
Or; ‘Hikaru’ celebrates his sixteenth birthday. Hikaru doesn’t.

Summary
Suddenly, his hand presses down on something large and pillowy. Hikaru curls in on himself and chokes out a gasp of air. Then he laughs, and Yoshiki feels it against his hand.
“What was—”
“Stop punchin’ the air outta my lungs!” Hikaru wheezes out. “Feels really funny.”
Yoshiki recoils. “Yer lu—you’re just playin’ with me, right?”
Hikaru grabs onto his hand, preventing him from pulling out further. “Not joking. You can probably squeeze the air right outta me.”
This sends a chill down Yoshiki's spine.
Hikaru tugs on his arm, urging him forward until his knuckles brush against it again. The lung. “Just be gentle,” Hikaru says. “I don't mind ya touchin' it.”
Hikaru wants to keep testing Yoshiki's ability to resist impurities. Yoshiki is interested in learning the intricacies of Hikaru's insides.

Summary
There are places in town where the air feels wrong now. Yoshiki notices it first near the train station, a prickling unease that makes him want to cross to the other side of the street. Then by the convenience store. Then near the old shrine path.
‘Hikaru’ notices him noticing. "You can feel ‘em," he says, pleased with that childlike wonder.
"Feel what?"
"The ones I've caught for ya." ‘Hikaru’ takes his hand, and it feels like Hikaru. "Wanna see?"
Is it cruel for a cat to play with its prey? For a shrike to build its larder? Some gifts cannot be assigned morality, as intertwined with instinct as they are.
Hikaru gives a gift to Yoshiki. How can Yoshiki do anything but love him?

“What’s Alpha Centauri?” Asa asks, and Crowley pulls away from the telescope and looks at him like he’s still waiting for something that never quite comes around.
“Star system,” he says. “Three stars, two of ‘em – Alpha Centauri AB, that’s a binary star, third brightest in the sky. It’s my favorite.”
“A binary star.”
“That’s two stars that belong together.”

Summary
Shortly after his return to New York, Arthur Lester is found comatose and blind in an alleyway with no memory nor idea towards what put him there. That's what he says anyway, since he has some idea considering the amount of enemies he's made in the past year. It would be a lot easier if most of it wasn't faded in strange obscurity when he tries to remember; if he hadn't gone through it all completely alone.
And then he starts seeing the same faceless stranger in his dreams.
