Therefore, when Steve finally snaps and reaches out to put his hand in Eddie’s hair, tangling his fingers in the softer and frayed curls at the base of Eddie’s nape, and bringing their faces closer and closer before kissing him, a gentle and sweet press of warm and damn lips against chipped ones-
Eddie still tells himself that it doesn’t mean anything.
Even as his hands too find their way into Steve’s hair and he swings his leg over Steve’s lap to sit on his strong thighs. It couldn’t possibly mean anything.
Steve and Eddie hook up. It doesn’t mean anything. Unless it does.

A stretch of silence settles between them again. Nightcrawlers face tips down, the shadows collecting under his eyes, as he sighs. Deeply, shakily.

“Wash your hair more carefully,” Montparnasse says, combing through Grantaire’s hair with his fingers a lot more thoroughly than he needs to. “Or chose a different shade, yellow is not your colour.”
“R looks lovely in yellow,” Jehan protests fondly.
“Well, he should keep it out of his hair,” Montparnasse says.
Grantaire lifts his head and gives him a lopsided grin, which is perfect, because it means he doesn’t see Enjolras completely forgetting to answer Combeferre and downright staring in their direction. It’s taking Montparnasse a considerable amount of restraint not to laugh out loud. Enjolras had no problem with Jehan basically lying on top of Grantaire, but this is ruffling his feathers. How utterly transparent.
