Summary
Having known Norton at a young age, Naib and him were inseparable. They grew up together, and were raised on each other.
One day, to the Nepali's horror, he returns to find the scene of Norton’s house coated with a mysterious thick layer of blood, with his friend nowhere to be found. Struck with grief and self-loathing at his lack of ability to have been able to have prevented this from happening, Naib swears revenge on his friend's killer. Subsequently growing up to be a vampire hunter, he swears to not let anything stand in his way of exacting revenge.
Demi eventually approaches him with a case regarding his childhood village, knowing his situation, and isn't taken aback whatsoever by his very pliant attitude towards taking up the case, even if something about his tone felt off.Would Naib keep that same energy if he knew who it was that he would truly be confronting?
(This is a fic of childhood best friends being reunited after a lot of angst. Followed by angst. I.E. These two never catch a break.)

Summary
Norton shakes his head. "Look again." He dares to lean over to the side a bit more-barely, nearly. From here, if he bent down, he could nearly lay his head on the other's shoulder. If Dax notices, he doesn't comment on it, and for that, Norton is grateful.
Sharp eyes narrow and study with renewed focus. Norton's own gaze follows lines of brown turned white by the moon, tucked with no real finesse into an elastic hairtie, though he pretends the sky is still the most captivating thing there. He's always been good at pretending, if nothing else.
