In the early days of the Gentleman Bastards, Locke impersonates a self-flagellating acolyte of the Goddess of Suffering, and Jean stands by as the muscle in case the mark catches on. You know what they say about the best-laid plans.

    Summary

It has been over a year since Snufkin has been to Moominvalley. No one knows why, until one day their dear friend collapses at the Moomins’ doorstep.

This is a slow burn, so buckle up!

(This story is a bit of a patchwork of different canon Moomin narratives, with fun little details taken mainly from the books and the 90’s and 2019 series, but not meant to explicitly exist in either one of them.)

    Summary

Tuffe found something that always made them feel better. Buried like a dear secret, they kept a small stack of postcards, each with a little note and a sketch. Leaning to catch the swinging paraffin light above, they read the one on top of the pile.

It began in a cheerful looping hand, the name TUFFE in big letters, as though it was a word the author took great joy in writing. At the bottom was a small drawing of a hatted mumrik in yellow, smiling and holding a flower as big as him. Originally, it had been packaged with a pressed daisy, but in the theatre, even Tuffe found it easy to lose Snufkin’s little gifts.

Tuffe carefully counted the postcards. One, two, three, four, five. They arrived in November, every year since they first began their life in the theatre.

Every year, that is, until the last.
