Arnold’s gaze fell, landing on the ring he had gifted her. Rishe had worn it every day without fail after her fervent demand that he place it on her. Now, she requested him to make her fantasy to become a reality, and hadn’t he promised her that’d fulfill her every one?
“Then don’t worry. If that’s what you want, I’ll make it happen.”
Arnold rose from her bed, strapping his sword back onto his belt before shrugging on his jacket. Turning to her one last time he noticed the way her eyes followed him, her fists anxiously clenched around the hem of her dress. “You keep resting a little longer.” With those parting words, which he knew would be immediately disregarded, Arnold walked out of her room and into the halls of the Grand Basilica.
It was time for him to fulfill Rishe’s request.

“Rishe, move away from the ledge,” Arnold spoke cautiously. Revulsion, violent and instinctual, lacerated through her chest at the mere sound of his voice: she clutched to her chest, trying to steady herself.
“Please,” she managed. “Leave me alone, Arnold.”
“I don’t think that’s a wise idea.”
Rishe didn’t respond, eyes locked on the cityscape as she stood atop the ledge of her balcony.
“Please, Rishe. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s not worth it.”
“Like you’d know,” Rishe muttered to herself, bitterness tainting her normally soothing voice. Like anyone would, considering her peculiar situation. It struck her how close the sky was, so much closer than whatever was down below.
“Perhaps I do, or perhaps I don’t. That doesn’t change the fact that you need to move away from the edge.”

Arnold hummed, drawing her closer as he ran his fingers through her hair, carefully removing any spare tangles. “I disagree. Not many are well versed in the culture of that land, but you knew each detail perfectly.”
“You flatter me.”
“Of course. You are my wife.”

Rishe raised a sword, the clash steel echoed off the castle walls: Joel’s body splayed on the floor, gutted and face completely disfigured. Emperor Arnold Hein stared down at her with a hollow gaze, blue eyes glowing in the moonlight like luminescence in water.She couldn’t breathe.
