    Bookmarker's Notes

Completely convinced this series is a part of a lost Tolkien work. A MUST READ.

    Summary

This is a companion spin-off to the Of Storms and Shadows series, splitting from Book One, Of Leaves and Waves, at the moment Meríliel's path is still undecided - to ask what might have been, had she chosen Glorfindel.

In the main story, Círdan the Shipwright pledged his daughter to Glorfindel of the House of the Golden Flower at the end of the Second Age. It was a match of ink and oath, not of hearts - Meríliel's loyalty was already spoken elsewhere, and Glorfindel, courteous and careful and carrying centuries of grief she could not yet name, never pressed for what had been given to him in haste and war. For long years they lived as lord and lady, fondly, and almost certainly something more, if either of them had been willing to say so.

This series explores the current that runs beneath that silence.

It is not the main story. It is the softer one - the one where the treasure that was always there gets to be found. Reading Of Leaves and Waves first is recommended, though not required. It will, however, make you considerably more invested in watching Glorfindel finally get what he deserves.

    Summary

As Sauron’s shadow lengthens at the end of the Second Age, the Eldar secure peace in the oldest way: marriage. Círdan the Shipwright pledges his daughter Meríliel (main OC) to Glorfindel, and his son Calenion (OC), to Thranduil’s line. It is a wise alliance, not a choice of the heart.

However, Meríliel’s love and loyalty is divided. Her bond to Prince Legolas will echo through centuries of pride, war, and consequence.

Woven into Tolkien’s canon and my own worldbuilding, this story bridges the silences between recorded events, exploring what happened, and when, in the years history and Jackson’s movies only hint at.

Arranged marriage. Forbidden love. Political tension. Cultural depth. Choices that do not fade.
