“Kevin Day told me about you.” The corners of Neil’s mouth lift the barest degree. It should be an unassuming, polite smile. Should be.
Andrew isn’t convinced. He hums and leans back in his seat. “You know Kevin.”
“We go way back,” Neil explains. He’s not giving any signs that indicate he’s lying, but still. Kevin usually holds his liquor better than he holds his secrets but Andrew thought he knew everyone Kevin has known since Palmetto State and he’d remember if this guy had been in the Nest.
“He’s never mentioned you,” Andrew says.
“I rarely mention him,” Neil replies easily.

Summary
“So… who was that?” Nicky said with a teasing tone, after Andrew had stood there for a beat too long, watching Neil’s retreat.
Andrew did not have the energy to deal with him. He just sat down heavily and scooped his now melted ice cream into his mouth. Aaron kicked Andrew’s shin and glared at him.
Andrew sighed. He hated how pushy his family was sometimes, “We were in juvie together.”
“Are you going to tell us his name? He seems nice. He’s gorgeous,” Allison said matter of factly.
Andrew just stared at her, debated answering, he didn’t like Allison, “Neil.”
“So are you two-“
“No,” Andrew bit out, less his answer to the question but more to the question itself. Neil was none of their business.
“But that’s not-“
“No,” Andrew said again, his tone sharp.

Summary
Andrew couldn’t help but notice, it had been pathetically obvious, truly. Andrew had been hyperaware of the fact that many people found Neil attractive and that even more had crushes on him since he had met Neil. It was just a fact of life. Neil was happily oblivious of course, his gaze only ever focused on Andrew or Exy. Andrew never had a reason to be jealous, or suspicious, not when Neil was so perfectly loyal, not when he unquestioningly gave every ounce of his love, attention, and trust to Andrew with no hesitation. But this was different. Concerning. Not because Andrew was threatened… but because it was… Matt.
