Summary
A laugh.
A bright flash of colors, probably rolling over a large monitor in the room Zim occupied.
The burning sound of dripping sarcasm, a sound Dib knew too well, a sound he had to learn to recognize.

Summary
“Do you want something, or did you just come to watch me sleep?”
“The sleep thing.”
Dib blinks. “Ooookay, that’s… Creepy.”
“I know, right?"
“Why are you watching me sleep?”
“Oh, yeah. I get bored at night. Watching you mutter and toss and turn is mildly more entertaining than waiting for it to be day.”
“Of course you’d think that…” Dib sighs, thoroughly used to Zim’s oddities by now. “Well since you’re so bored, and I’m already awake, do you wanna sleep over?”
---Dib can't sleep. Zim is bored and makes it Dib's problem, which leads to an impromptu sleepover. Anatomy is learned and cuddles are had.

Summary
“I will be in contact with you. You will answer promptly, or Zim will come to your location immediately. Do you understand?” The Irken gives him a commanding look but it just makes him laugh lightly. Zim is fiddling with Dib’s collar (straightening it around his neck where it’s rumpled a bit) like he’s trying to distract himself. He is suddenly reminded of world war 2 wives seeing their husbands off at the docks.
“Yes, of course.” He leans in and steals one final kiss before he pulls away. He watches as the Irken scoops GIR up and carries him back onto their cruiser like a toddler. He waves the entire time he watches the ship take off and tries to keep a rein on his emotions. It will not be the last time he will see his Irken

Summary
He presses the comms button for the captain’s quarters down and is slightly surprised when he gets an immediate answer.
“What’s wrong?”
Neil swallows thickly as he stares at the message, “an Irken is attempting to come aboard.”
There’s a small silence before the captain speaks, “I’ll be right down.” The com goes dead. The message flashes again, this time in all caps. As if the creature is becoming annoyed with the situation.

Summary
Clyde hadn’t asked in the moment how The Captain had known how to remove the Pak device anyway. Just happy to escape with his life, and from that day on he heeded the warning even more than he had in the beginning.
So when Neil tells him, “He’s married to a fucking Irken.” He fucking laughs. He laughs so hard he almost cries.
“Dude theres no fucking way,” He tries to catch his breath, “I’ve seen the Captain kill an Irken before. That’s just not possible, you remember how serious he was on day one about them.”
“I’m not joking, Clyde. He just let one on board and was joking with it. And it’s tall. Taller than any of the ones I’ve seen besides the tallest. It must be older than the soldiers we’ve seen.”
“He let one on board? Now you're just straight up lying.”
“No, I’m not-”
Clyde looks up as the other members of the ship all turn to the entrance way to the cafeteria. Walking through it is The Captain, arm draped around an Irken Invader, chatting as if nothing is strange about the interaction at all. His jaw drops at the sight.
“Told you.” Neil grins.

Summary
“Off, Irken.” He knows it's crude, his human tongue is not very good at making the clicking noises of the language but he is pretty alright at the hissing parts of it. Thankful that humans are very good at mimicry.
The creatures laugh at him, “you can not even speak full sentences, you have no idea how to use that weapon. Inferior.”
Dib will admit he doesn’t know how the gun in his hands works, but it feels heavy and he has always been adaptable. With all his might he runs with the gun towards the insects. They don’t seem like they were expecting that one. He manages to get a good hit in with the gun and hears a cracking noise.

Summary
Sebek scoffs. “Of course Silver falls sick,” he grumbles, shaking his head. “He simply isn’t strong enough to withstand most illnesses, like most humans.”
“That’s not it!” Kalim blurts out, before he clamps his hands over his mouth, eyes wide. In that instant, the three of them still, eyes fixated on the boy as he sags, his arms dropping to the side. He sighs. “Man… I was hoping I wouldn’t freak out like that, but—”
“Out with it.” Malleus’ voice is curt.
“Right, right.” Kalim exhales, crossing his arms. “Silver fell asleep during Professor Trein’s class today. Except…” He bites his lips. “He… didn’t wake up.”
And Lilia’s blood runs cold.
When Silver falls under an ancient sleep curse, unable to awaken, Lilia resolves to wake him up, no matter the cost.

Summary
Maybe— no, not maybe. It’s definitely better this way. How can Silver restore the status quo after everything he’s learnt throughout his father’s dream, of the wretched past Lilia never told him about? His father looks so unbearably happy now, in this peaceful dream of a war won without the losses that happened in reality. Lilia had lost his closest companions, his childhood friends. He’d spent years presumably exhausting his magic, to take care of Malleus in their stead until the draconic fae finally hatched, because Malleus’ parents had been killed.
And he’d taken Silver in, despite the hue of his hair, the colour of his eyes — all the little bits of evidence that should have clued Lilia in on his son’s true identity: a descendent of the Silver Owls.

Summary
They lay him in a bed of the softest quilt, head pressed against a featherdown pillow, silken sheets pulled up to cover his chest. There, Silver lays, eyes pressed shut, unmoving and still — if it were not for the gentle rise and fall of his chest, the barest of movements, he could have been mistaken for dead.
It is wretched, the way the room feels like a funeral. The room is like an explosion of flora — roses hued with the rays of the sun or painted the colour of the luminescent moon, orchids and hyacinths, blooming hydrangeas and sweet-smelling lilies. Condolences sent from all corners of the world, from the many, many people who have learnt of what Silver did, of how he saved them all.
It is Lilia who speaks first, voice cracking. “I hate those flowers,” he hisses, casting a deathly stare at a pot of lilies, alabaster petals swaying gently. Malleus knows why, innately; it is the reason that he detests them too, loathes what they symbolise — grief and mourning, departures and goodbyes.
This is not a goodbye for them, not yet.
Silver is not dead — not yet.

Summary
He had awoken from his dreams some time ago — the specifics of why, he does not know. All Lilia had done was jolt awake in a sudden, frantic panic, chest heaving as he sat upright upon his bed, gloved hand clutching his chest as he struggled to wrest his breathing back under control. Memories of the dreams he’d gone through — lost in the throes of a younger time when he had been running wild as the feared general of Briar Valley, weapon in hand and soldiers by his side — had flashed through his mind, reminding him with a startling clarity of every wicked word he had ever said to his son, Silver.
And it had been in that striking moment, bile rising in his throat as Lilia recalled the flashes of hurt and misery on Silver’s face, that Lilia noticed him.
Silver, standing in front of his door, head lowered, a blade resting in his hand.
Silver, who dripped with armoured ink, the Phantom of a dress curling over him. Its sleeves wrapped around his steadfast shoulders. A puddle of blot was forming around his heeled boots.
