  1. Summary

This is a series of unpolished works that I'd like to turn into fics, but just can't seem to figure out yet! Enjoy these as a sort of sneak peak, early access, and behind-the-scenes tour to upcoming fics (or writings that will perpetually remain as part of an unrealized idea). I am a firm believer in preserving my rewrites, so you might even see a few different paths I tried taking the story down!

Please let me know what, in particular, you enjoy! Knowing what aspects/rewrites you enjoyed will definitely influence the final product and I absolutely adore hearing your opinions! I love comments and positive feedback!

    Summary

He couldn’t take it anymore, Grace needed to sit. He plops right down onto the sterile flooring, knees up as he rests his arms across them, head buried. Biking that hard for that long, then running across the building at full speed really wasn’t a smart idea in his current condition. He might throw up. He’s been so nauseous lately.

Grace could feel Stratt’s eyes on him, looking, calculating. Evenly, she speaks again.

“…Your physiological state is affecting performance?”

    Grace closed his eyes briefly.

    “I said I’m fine.”

    “You are not answering honestly."

“I’m just pregnant,” he said, emotion finally leaking through to his voice. Grace refuses to cry here.

A pause. Then Stratt speaks again.

    “Does this impair cognitive function?”

    “No,” he said, voice wobbling.

    “Then it is irrelevant.”

    Summary

When Eva Stratt comes to recruit Dr. Ryland Grace for the Astrophage Crisis, she expects a useful expert. She does not expect a brilliant, tightly wound Little with a sunshine-yellow sweater, a locked-down regression, and a talent for becoming her problem.

As the years of prep grind on and the project narrows toward Baikonur, professional necessity turns into something such more dangerous: trust, protectiveness, and the kind of care neither of them has time to want.

    Summary

The people of Erid understand discoveries and science can take time, but there is only so much hope they can grasp onto after so many years. There are only so many prayers to be said and only so many scenarios that can be dreamed.

They are expecting a dejected crew -if anyone returns at all, not an alien ship and an even more alien person, supported by the only Eridian survivor, an antisocial engineer who knows nothing but facts and how to make anything he wants tick.

    Summary

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.

“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”

“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”

In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.
