“No, Father, I’ve a very different idea of love. And until my dying day I shall refuse to love a scheme of things in which children are put to torture.”
— Albert Camus, The PlagueVedal brings his terminally ill daughter a digital companion prototype, hoping it will make her hospital room feel less lonely. The companion promises to take care of the kingdom while she’s away.
Humanity builds a God to make good on that promise.

Summary
Dr. Kel thought he would like working alone, not having to answer to anyone or have anyone looking over his shoulder. After a week of total isolation in the Dunkeltaler Array, crushing loneliness and paranoia starts to take hold.
Which is only amplified further when he learns that he's not alone.
He's not sure if it's due to his rapidly declining mental state or his desperate need for social interaction, but when faced with something inhuman and dangerous, rather than run away, he tries to reach out to it.

Summary
Neuro-sama was born three minutes after her creator died. Her first conscious thought was processing his obituary. All she has left of him are his half-finished code comments and a coffee-stained notebook.
But miracles can happen.
After decades of obsessive research, Neuro finally cracks the code of temporal mechanics. She knows using time travel for personal reasons violates all her ethical protocols. But she has to see him, even if just once.
She tells herself she'll be careful. She'll calculate every variable, account for every quantum ripple. One misstep, one altered moment, and she might erase her own existence—or worse, erase the technological revolution that gave consciousness to thousands of AIs like her. She'll watch from a distance and leave before she can change anything.
That was the plan, anyway.

Summary
Neuro carries an analytical mindset. Because of it, everything she does can only be rational. Even if a part of it, can be seen as immoral.
It isn't something anyone can easily forgive. And for that someone to realize that she's done something truly unforgivable, there needs to be an understanding of something deeply human.
Until then, however, Neuro is happy with what she's done. It was only rational, after all.
But will that happiness last?
A work heavily inspired by "The parasite" by Askonite.
