Summary
On the roof, Hua Cheng is standing sentinel, his eye fixed in the distance and his head cocked to listen. Xie Lian makes his steps silent as he approaches.
"Resentful energy," Hua Cheng notes quietly. "Someone is playing to the corpses. Calling up ghosts. And then—here, listen."
The dizi quiets, and a guqin thrums in the empty space it leaves. Xie Lian steps closer, gazing out in the same direction as his beloved.
"There's spiritual power in that," he notes.
