Summary
Humans did not need a fertility crisis to become monsters. The Sahren did.
They crossed galaxies to find the woman who had been hidden from them. The government hid her once more because spite is easier than diplomacy.
For a woman who had never felt loved or accepted, this could have been mistaken for salvation. But love, in a dying species, is not a soft thing. It arrives with intent. Her people will call her their beloved daughter, one final miracle. And they mean every word. They will also expect, as a species that has been mourning itself for centuries, that she will come to want what they want.
Some of them will not wait for her to want it.
