Summary
As Cardinal-Deacon, Thomas Lawrence is the papal confessor.
He does not wish for it to be anyone else. This is but one of the reasons he retains his post. He misses the late Holy Father still, but Innocentius XIV is someone he cannot stop himself from serving. He feels, sometimes, as though he has been waiting for this man his whole life. He no longer speaks of resignation, but feels buoyed with spiritual energy, empowered by the Pope’s most divine leadership, by a life full of worship.
It is almost amusing, then, to hear the little sins of the Universal Church’s Supreme Pontiff.

So, when he woke up surrounded by the embrace of Edward and Stede he had, at first, placed his sudden awareness to his body betraying him once again."
After a surprise attack on the revenge leaves Izzy blinded, Izzy is forced into a spiral of self doubt about his new found relationship with his captain.
