I know it's been a while, but I've finally got the creative juices flowing, and this is what manifested!
After a violent and senseless attack at Nellie Davenport's Vineyard, they need a long overdue de-stressing. Thus, Ah toy is all too enthusiastic to agree with Nellie's suggestion they take a vacation on her private boat across a scenic lake. Lots of "stuff" ensues in their relative isolation. Obviously! Prepare for their overly romantic and dramatic squishiness!

Summary
Grace is too late rescuing Rocky. When he finds the Blip-A again, Rocky is already gone, so Grace does the only thing he can think of, and he takes Taumeoba-82.5 to Erid himself. If he can't save Rocky, well, he might as well make sure his death wasn't in vain.
He's sick, starving, and has no Eridian native to introduce him, but he's going to save Rocky's planet no matter what. After that... he supposes all that's left is for him to die. He's nearly out of food and Yao's gun is still tucked away safely in the Hail Mary's storage.

Summary
It's been years since Doctor Ryland Grace saved Erid and Earth. He is content with his life, happy just to teach the next generation of Eridians and have the occasional game night with Rocky and Adrian in his dome. For the most part, nothing changes.
And that's the problem. Shouldn't Grace, y'know...age? When Rocky indicates that he should be sixty human years old by now, Grace can't reconcile the young face in the mirror with the time that his friend has religiously kept.
Things get more complicated when another undoubtedly human ship shows up at the edge of the 40 Eridani system. Suddenly Grace is playing ambassador between the two species, and tensions are rising between them. Will this be a successful second contact, or is the peaceful life Grace just wants to live too much to ask for?
