Dennis snaps awake with startling clarity.
For a moment, he fumbles, assaulted with the depressingly familiar scent of perforated bowel, set against a backdrop of sweat and hospital disinfectant. The clamour of ambulance sirens fades to reveal the unmistakable sounds of an Emergency Department – a constant symphony of disorganised shouting and vital sign monitors beeping to the tune of patients’ heart rates.
He can see an x-ray box in the distance – the type that had gone obsolete decades ago, with the advent of digital patient records and more stringent patient confidentiality laws. The scrubs that some people are wearing are a far more familiar sight, but something isn't right.
Seemingly without rhyme or reason, Dennis Whitaker flits between ERs as day turns into night. Inexplicably, in this other ER, his only constant seems to be John Carter - now, if only he could figure out why.

Summary
Noah just wanted to relax on his day off, maybe have a bath and eat a good meal on his new couch. But Noah is also too kind for his own good and agreed to cover for Frank Langdon after he was dismissed. Frank is his friend so yes, he could do this for him.

Noah likes cute and innocent things, so it can’t be that bad to take some ducklings under his wing…right?

Summary
Kinship care was only supposed to be a one-night thing, but you should have known better than to trust a timeframe from CPS. Still, it's not all bad. Baby Jane Doe is easy, she sleeps well, eats well, is generally a happy little bundle of sunshine.
The ED Chief that seems to have come with her though, he's a whole different story.

Reader agrees to take care of baby Jane Doe until suitable care can be arranged. It was not made clear that Robby was going to be part of the package.
