Summary
Once, Ilya had watched a video of a woman who was taking her dog out on one final adventure. Her dog was very old, and sick, and she wanted to let him have the best day ever before she took him to the vet to say goodbye. They went to the beach, and had ice cream, and a steak dinner, and visited his favourite dog park, and by the end of the video Ilya had been an inconsolable mess. It was devastating.
Today, he felt like that dog.

BEFORE READING THIS FIC: this is technically an alternative to chapter 4 of the other fic in this collection called "something has to change"
Could this be read as a standalone? Maybe, but I don't recommend it. There is context for certain things (like the team knowing Shane & Ilya are together) that only make sense if you've read "something has to change". And this is bordering on a crack fic anyways. SHTC is story I love dearly and is probably (definitely) a better read than this lol. But if you're just here to watch Ilya freak out and think that Shane is going to dump him just to get proposed to instead, welcome, enjoy :)

Summary
Hayden wanted to apologize but wasn’t even sure what to apologize for. “If you’re so embarrassed about your choice of boyfriend, maybe get a better one?”
It wasn’t any worse than anything Hayden had said before. In fact, it was probably fairly tame as far as insults went, but it didn’t matter. Hayden could see the moment something inside of Shane detonated. One minute Shane was standing only a handful of feet away, his suit jacket clutched in his hands, and the next the jacket was dropped to the floor in a heap, and Shane’s hands were fisted in Hayden’s shirt, his back slamming against the wall.
Holy fuck, he thought. Shane is going to fucking hit me.

or, Hayden makes one too many shitty comments about Rozanov and Shane finally snaps. And while he never actually lands a blow on his best friend, the defeated way he talks about ending their friendship has Hayden rattled. After the Centaurs plane makes an emergency landing, Hayden knows he needs to do everything in his power to make it up to his best friend, with Jackie's help of course.

Summary
Refusing to let Ilya ruin his career by signing with Ottawa, Shane chooses to really give their relationship a try and moves to Boston to live with Ilya and become a Raider. What follows is enough public scrutiny and backlash from his team that it has him questioning if he made the right decision. Until moments with Ilya and the Raiders show him exactly why he chose correctly.

Hayden’s eyes flickered to Shane as he sat on the bench, chewing on the edge of his mouth guard.
“Don’t fucking look at him,” Ilya insisted as he bent down for the faceoff.
“Excuse me?” Hayden mumbled, eyes darting back to him.
“You heard me,” he retorted, his tone clipped. “He’s not your teammate anymore; he’s mine. If you think Marlow is a problem to your game, wait until you see what I will do to your team if you hurt anyone on mine again.”
Hayden scoffed, dipping his head as he tried to focus on the game. Something about Ilya’s words still rang through his head though, sounding so definitive that he didn’t want to risk seeing what he was actually referring to when he said that.
The puck dropped again, and Ilya stole it before he could comprehend how quickly it happened.

He’d told Rozanov the wrong number. He was sure of it. His brain was so scrambled by the interaction in the shower that when Rozanov asked his room number, he jumbled up the digits and told him 1410.
OR
