Summary
Regulus Black has built his life on distance.
Clean exits. Rules that keep him safe from wanting too much.
Transferring to Hogwarts University is supposed to be practical—it was closer to friends, had smaller classes, and it acted as a fresh start far from the awful family he escaped. It is not supposed to bring him closer to the brother who left first, or to James Potter, who notices him in ways Regulus has spent his entire life avoiding.OR
A story about chosen family, love, and what it costs to stay distant when someone refuses to let you.Bookmarked by Jessstarchaser

Summary
“He’s never going to get over it,” Sirius says, eyeing him. “His headstone is going to say, ‘loved only one girl and never moved on’.” He playfully shoves James’ shoulder. “He’s down so bad, he’s got a rental space in hell.”
“Down so bad he’s making lunch plans with the devil,” Remus adds.
“Down so bad, he made gravity increase three times.”
“Ha,” James deadpans. “You guys can laugh, but I will get Lily back. This year is the year of love for James Potter, I can feel it.”
“Yeah, okay.” Remus laughs. “I’ll believe it when I see it. I personally bet this year will be another year of yearning for one, James Potter.”

Summary
"What?" Regulus jabs his wand into the underside of James' jaw.
Despite this, James grins. "Love, I've faced Voldemort himself. I don't let myself be pinned against a wall unless that's where I want to be. As it stands, I'm quite fond of the murderous look in your pretty eyes and don't mind having it directed towards me."
There's an incredulous laugh. Barty says, "Oh, you and I have more in common than I thought, Potter."
-- ☆ --
The war is over. James has bruises on his soul and a forlorn innocence, but he survived.
The wizarding world is a tangled mess of mourning heroes and redeeming villains.
And two of those villains are dancing in a muggle pub and looking good. One of them is supposed to be dead, and the other is supposed to be in Azkaban.
James shouldn't, he really shouldn't, but... well, he's never been particularly talented at doing what he should.

Summary
Regulus just wanted answers. Two weeks without news from James - no messages, no calls, no trace. The last clue? An abandoned psychiatric hospital in the middle of Scotland, shrouded in stories that no one likes to repeat.
Of course, he's not going alone. Sirius insists on going, Remus takes maps, Peter takes snacks and flashlights. None of them are prepared for what they will find in the mysterious St. Mungo's.
Honestly? Maybe it's better that way.
