The hardest part is remembering he loved her.
That part comes back to Grace very late in the game. He's on his last dregs of peanut butter and he's pretty sure there's only one or two tortillas left when the memory hits him so hard in the chest that it knocks the wind out of his lungs.
He wheezes. He sits down. He stares at his fingers and wonders if he ever felt the warmth of her hands in them or if he's just forgotten that too.
