“What about with other humans? Did Grace perform mating activity with other humans?” Rocky chitters, rolling over to me. I push air out of my nose slowly, trying not to freak out and scare Rocky.
“Not… not many times. Like. Once,” I stammer, gripping the edge of the counter. Maybe I should sit. I definitely should sit. I collapse back into the chair, staring at the ceiling.
“What happen, question? Grace have not many partners. No one want procreate with Grace, question? Sad sad sad. Embarrass, but Rocky no tell anyone.” Okay that’s it, I’m not having this discussion any longer.
TLDR: Grace doesn’t think he has much sexual experience. Well… he still has some remembering to do.

Grace has been on Erid for about six months. Things have quieted down. Grace isn’t as sick anymore. He’s eating normally, mostly healed, and not actively dying. Rocky doesn’t need to spend every waking moment with him. Rocky can actually resume living a normal life. Grace doesn’t need Rocky, anymore.
Grace has severely underestimated how much he needs Rocky.
Or: What happens when a very codependent Grace tries to separate himself from his best friend, Rocky? Who, by chance, also happens to be very codependent?
Oh, right. And he’s in love with Rocky. And he doesn’t know it yet.

Summary
Grace’s short history of relationships taught him that maybe he was just childish. Maybe he just— maybe he didn’t want a relationship. Maybe he just wanted a best friend who wouldn't leave him when they got married. That he was the one that was the problem.
Adults had sex. That was a fact of life. They fell in love and love meant sex and that was just how it was. If you didn’t want to have sex then you weren’t really in love. Sure sex didn’t equate to love— people had flings all the time— but romance and sex were the kind of things that went together. So Grace had just— accepted the words of his girlfriends. That maybe he just never actually loved them the way he thought he did. Maybe he just liked them and tied the thought of romance to it so that he could monopolize their time. That all just came together so maybe he actually was just leading these women on. All of them gave him everything he needed in a relationship but he’d never been able to be what they needed. Wasn’t that selfish? Wasn’t that cruel?
Alternatively: Grace is alloromantic asexual. This is traumatizing in many ways. Not for Rocky though. Rocky's perfectly okay with being in love and never having sex.

Summary
Eridians really are masters of material sciences and engineering. The mere idea of this sort of invention is pure science fiction on earth, but here we are. 16 light years away from my home planet and I’m looking at a real life honest-to-god avatar. The blue ones, not the cartoon. It's a human man.
After many long years of work, Rocky has finally managed to make himself human to finally close the gap between him and Grace. It'll take a bit for him to get used to this new body, but in the meantime, Grace is perfectly capable of taking control and showing Rocky what humans can really do.
