   Summary

   Iruma is human. This means a lot of things for him, being the odd one out amongst the demons around him. He doesn't have horns, fangs, or a tail- but it's easy enough to dodge questions about those. Maybe it's unusual to be missing all three, but there's a large variety amongst demons. What's harder to explain away is his lack of wings, which he had been doing so well at hiding...

   Except- humans are mythical creatures, to demons; so when Iruma's missing wing roots are discovered, that's not the first thing on anyone's mind. There is, in fact, a reason that a demon might be missing their wings. A horrible, horrible reason.

   Never before had Iruma been grateful to have his scars.

   Summary

   Predator instincts and survival instincts were fickle things.

   Survival focused on living, and thriving in impossible conditions and harsh environments where the plants did not grow, the rivers did not flow, the flowers did not bear fruit and all that mattered was being at the top of the food chain.

   Because it was rats, just rats all the way down.

   Predator focused on eating, satiating the hunger and thirst for food, blood, for violence. All that mattered to the predator, was that their stomach was no longer empty and whatever had threatened it was gone, perhaps in the form of blood and bone on the stained ground or a corpse bleeding out. They weren't picky.

   Instincts are instincts.

   Iruma is Iruma.
