Summary
"Married," Yaz says, a pit forming in her stomach. "You want us to pretend to be married."
"Nothing we haven't done before!" The Doctor says, practically beaming.
That was before. Before I knew I loved you. Before I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you.
The Doctor's expression sours. Yaz wants to go back, back to when it was just her and the Doctor against the universe, back when they weren't bleeding from the dual wounds they've given each other.
Can we just live in the present? I don't want this, Yaz wanted to say. You know I don't want this and you don't want this either so why are you—
Of what we have, while we still have it?
"Married," Yaz says again. "On the planet of Sakhra to infiltrate the Goddess' castle."
She's so not going to be bloody fine.

Summary
Why now? Yaz wants to ask. Why would you give me hope? Why not in China? Why not in Manchester?
The Doctor takes a step forwards, reaching. Yaz steps back. “I came back.”
And it’s almost broken; it’s almost sorrowful. And Yaz nearly breaks; nearly jumps into her arms and clings to her, like she’s wanted to do for years now.
(And, in the back of her mind, fierce in its intensity—Why do you only ever want me when it’s too late?)
Then, the Doctor’s expression goes blank; unreadable. Yaz can see her—stacking those walls sky high; retreating and fleeing and shutting down and she laughs.
Nothing’s changed.
Yaz scoffs. “Four years too late.”
After four years apart, the Doctor re-enters Yaz's life right as she starts to get her life back together. Things go about as well as expected (not very).
