Direct sequel/follow up to "Unspoken."
In the aftermath of the Trial of Seven at Ashford Meadow, Jena Dondarrion attempts to push through her pain in order to get away from what has become, in her mind, a cursed place. While Maekar Targaryen, drowning in grief, guilt, and long-held feelings for his brother's wife and now widow, does his best to hold his family together in Baelor's place, at least long enough to get them all home. While leaning into one another for strength has the flavor of sense, finding comfort there is as unexpected as it is complicated.

Summary
The Tourney at Ashford Meadow was meant to be a means of smoothing public relations for the Crown. In some ways, it was a success. In others, an utter, abject failure. For Jena - formerly of House Dondarrion, wife of Baelor Breakspear - it was a tragedy, ending in inconsolable loss.

Or mayhaps it was fate he cursed and not the gods at all. It hardly mattered the cause when the woman he wanted was wed to his brother.

In the beginning Whitney Miller had been just one more screaming, frightened human doomed to die. Had it not been for her resemblance to a dead woman, she, too, would have joined the faceless masses in a forest of bones.
