On Christmas 2010, the Doctor and Rose are celebrating with the Tyler's when London is attacked by a mischievous alien (because of course it is), and they have to save the day.
That all changed, of course, the moment her face became the first face this face saw.
It took him a very long time to understand why. It never made sense to him, not until they bonded on Christmas Eve two years ago, why he had this unyielding desire to spend the holiday with her that day. Why he couldn’t bear the thought of letting her go like the others - the humans he would drop off and then pick back up - why he needed her by his side. Why he was downright ecstatic to open his cracker and wear that paper crown. Why her smile was the only thing he wanted to see.
He was in love.
