While hesitates at first, she hires him and soon finds herself befriending him. They work well together, but in doing so both are forced to face painful memories from their past that have caused them to end up where they are now.
But perhaps together they can overcome those.

“Ugh, what now?” he moaned. “I was right in the middle of something!”
The irritated feline raised his smartwatch. “‘Incoming call?’ Huh. I didn’t know my watch could do that,” he mused curiously before checking the ID.
“Oh, it’s just my father,” he smiled. “Well, I was planning to tell him the good news in person, but you know what they say, ‘strike while the iron is hot!’”
The naive lynx excitedly pressed the accept button. “Hey Da–”
“Pawbert,” his father growled, cutting him off. “Just what do you think you’re doing!? Are you working with a fucking SNAKE!?”
