Rui's been alone most of his life. After fleeing the Dark Kingdom when war breaks out, he finds a moderate amount of happiness as an alchemist selling his potions and products in the Light Kingdom. Even though Rui doesn't mind his daily routine, he can't help but feel like he's missing something...
summaries are hard and I don't want to spoil my whole plot for Tsukasa so I'm sorry its short and vague :((
Edit: I know the first few chapters are pretty short, which is a turn off for some readers (myself included, I'm very picky) but I was learning back then. I considered merging some of the earlier chapters, but this would require me to delete at least half the original chapter pages, which would delete the associated comments and I couldn't bear to do that. I ask that you stick with the fic, as the chapters get more than 3x as long by chapter 7. Thanks so much for the support so far!
Edit 2: I have redone Mizuki's pronouns from ch 11 to be she/her and changed the fic tags accordingly. In 2023 or so when i wrote that chapter, they/them was more widely used, even though I personally preferred she/her for her.

He can't recall a time when he wasn't asking himself if he genuinely was real, but to be fair, he doesn't remember anything anyway.----

Dragons, symbols of fortune, great power, wealth, and royalty are loved by humans. Making belief in them simple. However, the idea of such noble beings humbling themselves for human belief disproves their natural pride. Unlike most gods, who would rather be forgotten than beg for belief, there seems to exist an old myth about the dragon willing to lower themself for mortal worship to avoid being forgotten.

Is it really true, or has the legend about this dragon been twisted so many times that the truth behind it is known only to those who have known this deity in times when mortals adored and worshipped them willingly?
