Summary
“Everyone ready?” Trinity turned over her shoulder to look at the backseat where Samira, Mel, and Victoria were sitting shoulder to shoulder. They all looked back at her with varying degrees of nervousness.
Going to Donnie’s halloween party as a group had been Trinity’s idea. When he’d told her about the party, she’d immediately known that she had to get her friends to do a group costume. And maybe friends was pushing it, but they’d all been working together for two months now and Trinity had made it her mission to get them to socialize more. It still surprised her that they all went along with her, though. Making friends hadn’t always been her strong suit, she’d always been more likely to annoy someone than to convince them to hang out with her.
When no one objected or suddenly realized they’d forgotten something upstairs, Trinity turned to Dennis, who was in the driver’s seat, “Alright, down the yellow brick road.”
The gang goes to a halloween party!

Summary
Sometimes Trinity still found it hard to believe that after the shitshow that was her first day, she’d somehow still managed to make friends at work. But now she had a living room full of people ready for a holiday movie night. She’d had the idea after spending several nights bingeing old holiday films with Dennis and realized that it could be fun to really make an event of it.
“So what are we watching?” Mel asked once they were all settled on the couch with a variety of snacks spread out on the coffee table.
“Elf,” Trinity answered, because she liked to be a shit and Mel had told her about the weekly ritual of having to watch Elf with her sister.
Mel’s face actually fell before she plastered on a fake smile and Trinity quickly said, “Just joking, don’t worry. I was planning something even better.”
And by better, she meant much worse.
But god, the look on her friends’ faces as they tried to process what was happening as they watched A Christmas Prince was so worth it.

“Oh wow,” Trinity said as she took in the ingredients spread across the kitchen counter. There were bars of chocolate, jars of spices, sugar, and cocoa powder “I didn’t realize this would be a whole production.
Yolanda laughed at that, “The hot chocolate’s a family recipe. We take it seriously.”
“What can I do to help?” Trinity asked.
“Oh,” Yolanda paused, looking at her. “Well…”
“Did you forget to plan for this to involve dual participation? Am I just a guest on your cooking show?” Trinity teased.
“Maybe,” Yolanda said with a sheepish smile. “How about you just sit at the counter and look pretty?”

Summary
Emery was looking at her with an unusually open expression that made Samira immediately realize she was veering dangerously close to becoming a hypocrite by discussing her personal life with her coworkers.
Clearing her throat, she quickly changed the subject. “Anyhow, we got a bunch of nice chocolates from a patient’s family earlier, they’re in the break room if you want to steal a few.”
“Thanks for the tip, Doctor Mohan,” Emery said with a small, surprisingly warm, smile that made Samira’s stomach swoop.
Giving her a tight nod, Samira turned to go check on another patient. Any patient.
Samira's now-canon aversion to knowing anything about her coworkers' personal lives becomes just a little hypocritical. Maybe more than a little.

“I don’t think your girlfriend likes me very much,” The patient says, words slurring as he gestures towards the curtain lazily. "The mean surgeon chick who was just here. Dartmouth lady. Your girlfriend. She seems pissed. Are you guys fighting? Or is she always like that?
Samira doesn't mind working on New Year's Eve, mostly because it gives her an excuse to avoid going out. What she does mind is the number of drunk patients who throw up on her, the drunk patients who assume she and Emery Walsh are together because of a shared hoodie, and the drunk patients who demand she and Walsh kiss when the clock hits midnight.
