Summary
It was as if Will was the sun – addictive to look at but painful to do, as well. Like when your parents warned you not to look at the sun because you could go blind, but curiosity and just the sense of knowing you shouldn’t causes you to do so anyway. And though it hurt and he knew he should look away, Mike couldn’t tear his gaze away from Will until his chest tightened and he was yet again, breathless.
Holy shit, Will took Mike’s breath away way too often.
An AU where Mike and Will sign up for a surfing competition without the knowing of the other and they find out later that they are pit against each other. Not only are they each other’s opponents now, but now they are naturally each other’s worst enemies.
And even now when they are meant to hate each other, they can’t help but fall in love again. Even when the tide itself is telling them it is not meant to be.

Mike Wheeler may love summer, but he does not like sand. (It’s coarse, rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere.)
Still, his teenage angst has finally amounted to something once his mom has promised that they’ll leave him alone for the most part. So, Mike pretends that he doesn’t know the cheesy tourist family taking thousands of pictures and he wanders off. Hopefully, to find a place where he can read his comic books in peace.
Unfortunately -- or maybe, fortunately -- he disregards his plan once he sees somebody familiar.
