Summary
When the mission to Horizon Point had been offered, you’d turned it down.
Stupidly you’d believed it would be enough, that in doing so you’d managed to save yourself and your crew from the fate that awaited them. Instead, the Earth Directorate had responded by reassigning them to another agent who had been happy to take on the mission in your stead.

Summary
“Commander? We’ve reached Praetor…there seems to be a lot of Protectorate activity down there.”
If forced to describe Niles tone, you would have been forced to describe it as apologetic, as though you had not explicitly stated that you wanted awakening as soon as you entered planetary orbit.
“Wait, Niles…have we had this conversation before?”
Something in his words invoked a powerful sense of déjà vu, the ghost of a memory in which your fellow agent had stood in the same doorway and uttered the same statement.

Summary
Torn away from his research into the rifts Sovereign Henry Varick found himself with little to do but pace the length of his cramped quarters and fume. He supposed that he could reread the research that his Consul Emory Thoreau had seen fit to leave him with, though it would do little to improve his temper. Not for one moment did he believe the man’s insistence that he had provided the information out of kindness, he’d done it to humiliate Henry about how he had allowed himself to be deluded by the lies of those who had worked for him.

Summary
Waking up from deep space hibernation was never a pleasant experience.
Waking up from hibernation and realising that he had returned to events he had already lived through once somehow made it seem worse. As far as Commander Alaric Wilson was concerned, he had died a hero’s death, closing the rift that threatened to engulf Arcadia. Finding himself back at the start of the whole sorry affair and knowing the shenanigans that he was about to be forced to endure was almost enough to make him consider throwing himself out of an airlock.

Summary
Hindsight was 20/20 vision.
In hindsight they should have expected that Hodgkin would not sit idly by and wait for them to come to him. Nor should they have believed that he would not recognise Sinbad for the distraction that he was meant to be, and Sonja should not have run off to take down the minor players in the Dead Tide Fleet personally with Magister Merlin, leaving Rustport leaderless.
It was impossible to change what had already happened though, which was unfortunate for Lucca, as he had been thrust into the position of having to deal with the consequences of those decisions already made. The attack on Rustport had occurred without warning, the docks had been swarmed by Graveborn and the Carmine Whispers had been forced to fight a losing battle from that point onwards
