Summary
The ritual does not pierce the air so much as it worms a crack in it.
Scott is, admittedly, not in a safe spot when it happens—just outside the ritual circle, still desperately shouting to the students inside that they shouldn't be doing this, when someone grabs Pyro by the arm and seems to drag him in, accidentally or not, so Scott, stupidly, panics and follows.
And then he can't see the ritual, because he can't see anything.
Anything, that is, except for Pyro.

Czeslaw examined his expression for a moment before smirking his usual smug grin. “What do I think our relationship is?” He asked, his voice sounding strangely giddy and teasing.
“Yeah.” Pyro responded dumbly.
Czeslaw chuckled before leaning in and putting his lips on Pyro’s in a brief but oddly tender kiss. “Does that answer your question, Jack?” He asked, a smug grin on his face.
OR: Czeslaw survives Pyro’s attack but the brain damage causes him to completely misremember his relationship with Pyro and he changes from a cruel bully to a doting boyfriend in the blink of an eye.

The gold medal finally landed onto his neck. He felt happy.

Their eyes ripped open, a harsh cough escaping from his mouth, they were sat up in a matter of seconds. They felt hollow, like everything in his system was… Nether wart. The Mass. The worlds. The flame. Oh god, that had all been real. He wasn’t covered in blood this time, it was sweat, some nightmare they couldn’t quite remember, and god he did not want to remember.
