“I want to watch the sun rise.” Ben muttered, “It reminds me that even as the dark sets in, the light will come back around eventually. It always does. It has become hard to remember that recently.”
The answer left Jaster speechless.
Ben sounded wounded– hurt in a way which would not heal with time alone. He looked like a tired Verd, a battle-weary warrior. Jaster had seen the look before. Many Verde wore it. The glint of deeply rooted pain sparked in Ben’s eyes too.
Instead of asking more, Jaster turned his head to watch the sunrise along with Ben.
It was peaceful.
The dawn of a new day.

She stepped forward. Close enough that Jason had to shift back a half-step or get bowled over entirely by this woman who was at least two heads shorter than him, and in doing so, she brought the kid—Duke—with her.
“Hey—no, hold on a second—”
OR:With Batman gone, Gotham is falling apart. But Jason has bigger problems. Like this kid who just got dumped on his doorstep due to a case of mistaken identity. What was his name again? Oh yeah. Duke Thomas.

The first rule—well, okay, not the first rule, but honestly all the rules about where to stand and what to wear and how to eat and how often to wash and how long you could keep salami under the bed before it “went bad” (Obi-Wan thought this number was zero, which was obviously absurd) all kind of blurred together in his mind—the first rule that really stood out to Anakin was, “we don’t go to level thirteen, because the Bats live there.”
Or, the Star Wars/Batman crossover absolutely no one asked for.
