You jest with gullible Cicero!” He laughs until he notices that Aerwen’s expression hasn’t changed, then he tilts his head, the bells on his hat jingling quietly, “You’re serious. But… the Night Mother is our Unholy Matron. The undying spirit of a great woman who birthed the children of Sithis, and killed them. In his honor. Surely you know of Sithis, at least!"
“I know of Sithis.” Aerwen confirms. She steps closer to the coffin, peering past it to look through the window. Through a sliver of crimson glass, she sees Astrid in the chamber below, speaking to Veezara by the workbench. Aerwen’s eyes narrow slightly. Why would Astrid hide something so important to the Dark Brotherhood’s history and practice from her?

Summary
Since defeating Orin, Corvus has grown unexpectedly close to Raphael. Things have been going well—until Cazador tries to abduct Corvus as bait to lure Astarion to the palace. Raphael is furious. Not only at the attempt to steal him away, but what it would mean if Corvus fell victim to Cazador's ascension.
