Zuko scrubs his body until it’s raw, blushing red; he dunks his head under the hot water and stays there, staring up at the dark, vaulted ceiling of the washroom until his lungs run out of breath to use.
The oil of honeysuckle and opium and cinnamon, sweet and sharp and earthy, does not wash the stench of scorched flesh out of his nose.Zuko falls asleep on the evening of his official coronation, when he’s twenty-one-years old and has finally reached his majority. Zuko wakes on the morning of the Agni Kai with his father, eight years earlier.
This is annoying for several reasons, like the fact that the War is still ongoing, that he has zero friends, and that Ozai is not in jail.

But as Zuko talks to them more, he begins to doubt the stories he's heard of their barbaric ways. His journey to redemption is a lot more complicated than he originally thought...
Aka a big space adventure that makes Zuko questions his people's history, prejudices, and legitamacy while he gets his own ideas of honor flipped upside down. Of course, what would a journey of intergalactic self-discovery be without a cute waterbender to constantly challenge his beliefs and butt heads with him.

Katara is eighteen, avoiding an arranged marriage to the only man her age in the South Pole she’s not related to, and stumbles upon a man freezing in the ice.
He’s been abandoned by whatever ship he sailed on and has no memory of where he comes from, who he is, or why he has stunning gold eyes when everyone else in the South Pole has gorgeous blue.
Even though he makes her heart flutter like nothing else before, Katara has a duty to her people. The neighboring tribe’s proposal would ensure her village survives the brutal winter, but she cannot stand her betrothed. Meanwhile, the stranger with amnesia needs to prove his worth to the village if he doesn’t want to be exiled for the sin of having the wrong eye color.
They strike a deal. Help each other provide for the town, and he’ll get to stay until he remembers who he is, and Katara can avoid her marriage—at least for one more year.
But after a year together, fighting to survive the cold, how will they face his memories coming to the surface when someone else is found in the ice?
(AKA this is a slightly aged up gaang. Zuko has amnesia, lives in SWT for a year, and then joins the gaang early for the events of the show. Zutara-centric.)
