Annabeth Chase is efficient. Annabeth Chase is capable. Annabeth Chase does not panic, does not falter, does not ask for help she doesn't think she needs. She is, in every measurable sense, a structure.
Structures are impressive until they aren't. Until the pressure finds the one flaw, the one hairline crack, and reminds you that nothing built by hands — or gods — lasts forever.
But here is what structures cannot do: Hurt. Doubt. Grieve. Crawl back from the rubble of themselves.
