His eyes meet Hongjoong’s, and if Hongjoong hadn’t already known that the man is something else, he’d have known by now. Those eyes are deep blue and there's something wild hidden behind his gaze. Hongjoong can see so many things in them, the sky, the ocean, secret blue lagoons where he and his crew had stopped to rest after fights that had almost taken their lives, sapphires, peaceful calmness Hongjoong has graved for without realizing it. It wasn’t uncommon for people to have magical powers whilst it wasn’t uncommon for people to not have powers. The Xdinaries (one with powers) and Ordinaries (w/o power), coexisted with no issue.
Discrimination and bullying due to powers was scarce and Xdinaries were given the freedom to choose whether they wanted to reveal their powers or not.
JYP Academy was one of the best schools in the world - for both Xdinaries and Ordinaries. And with its prestigious name, JYP Academy is of course hard to get into. Yet many have been successful and one of the few was Hyunjin.

Hyunjin wondered why he had to just go and do something so stupid, but he had always been a tad more emotional than his friends. There was nothing more to do about it though. Hyunjin never expected to come across Humans, much less having been forced into quite an unfavourable situation with them. Hyunjin to offer his help, hoping that they would set him free or that he would at least be capable of avoiding capture, torture, and all other forms of terrible things that he had heard about.
With his luck they had ended agreeing. Hyunjin felt this was the perfect opportunity, upon knowing now that they would not kill him, to get to know more about Humans. With such a species being unknown to him and his kin. That is, assuming they don't change their minds and kill him in the meanwhile. Hyunjin was still quite wary of these humans, after all, they had expressed their desire to harm him at first, and it was only his quick thinking that saved his skin.
Furthermore, it was dangerous, Humans were. He had never been outside the forest, and though he agreed to be their guide to escape the kingdom of the south. His people were looking for him, and there was undoubtedly other humans' looking for Hyunjin's captors.Series

A year after the war ended, everyone was busy scrapping off what they had left & start anew again. Lots of people died, and lots of people went missing. They were considered dead. Hyunjin was also one of them.
But then Chan found the supposedly dead boy in a military camp, living as a refugee with no memory of his past.
With Chan's help, Hyunjin tried to start a new life again, but it seemed challenging when the people from his past refused to accept him again.

Hyunjin thought he was lucky. He never thought that being a beta would lead him here. It felt that being in this status is safe - not scrutinized like omegas, not too answerable like alphas. As he sits there at the table with people much more important than him who expect him to make such a terrible choice between his dignity and his group's success, he knows that lucky is the last word he would use to describe himself.
