Summary
A deeply tired, ugly little part of Eddie wanted to know what would happen if he simply sat down on the apparatus floor and bled through his shirt. Would they notice then? Or would he have to actually pass out first?
He hated that thought as soon as he had it.
It wasn’t fair. They loved Buck because Buck was lovable, because he was family, because he had just been kidnapped and tortured and dragged through hell. Eddie loved him too. Maybe more than was good for him. Certainly more than was wise.
And if Eddie had made himself harder to care for, then that wasn’t on them.
Note:
Now that we’ve survived the finale, I’ve decided to change part of my story and shift the flow a little. So to my loyal readers — you may want to start rereading from Chapter 9 so everything connects better from there.Bookmarked by HeadyHeadless

Summary
Buck goes back into the water without thinking, without caring that his leg is already failing him or that the current is still strong enough to drag him out to sea.
Buck finds Christopher.
He brings him back.
But when he wakes up, all he can remember is the moment Christopher was gone, the broken glasses in his hand, and Eddie’s trust turning into something Buck no longer thinks he deserves.
Or
What if Buck saved Christopher from the tsunami, and woke up convinced Eddie would never trust him again?

Summary
He laid back down, staring up at the ceiling again. When he couldn’t fall asleep, he usually tried some 4-7-8 counting method that he learned ages ago. It often did the trick in a matter of minutes, 15 at most.
This was not one of those nights.
No matter what he did, how much he tossed and turned, he couldn’t stop his brain from thinking and overanalyzing.
What did they mean by that? ‘Just made sense,’ we don’t do everything together, we’re not—
Eddie shot up mid-thought.
“Oh. Oh god,” he said to no one....

"G't... away.. fr'm my.. broth'rs...."
And then the world went black.``

Summary
“What did you pray for?” Shanks asked, poking at the baby fat filled cheek. Luffy swatted at him with a scoff.
He pursed his lips, “For Ace.” He said, casually, like it hadn’t swept the rug from out under Shanks and caused his gait to falter, entirely. He was frozen, in response. Luffy continued for several seconds until he realised the adult at his side was no longer there. He turned, perplexed, watching Shanks with a befuddled expression. Shanks held no rebuttal. “What’s wrong?”
“Why…” he almost didn’t want to ask. “Why Ace?” Luffy’s stare was long and hard. And for the first time, since meeting Luffy on that fateful day, all the way past the chaos of the Grandline, in the waters of the East Blue—Shanks could not place the expression that overtook Luffy’s supple features.
Alternatively, the story where Shanks and Luffy take steps on an arduous path to closure.
