Before Jon’s finished his first mug of tea, Martin’s pulled out a bag of crisps (cheddar flavor), or a baked cheese snack, and a soda. Jon never sees him down a drop of water, chugging on manufactured caffeine as if that were his lifeline. And then lunch, more pop and the most luscious leftovers based on the smells emanating from the break room.
One time, Jon sat down in front of Martin while he was on his lunch break, and listened to Martin wax poetic about the smothered chicken recipe he made the night prior, how it was too much maths to downsize the recipe from three people to one person, so he made the meal in hopes of meal prepping, only to have eaten the whole thing in one sitting. Jon listening in rapt attention, feeling the telltale tightening of his pants as he covers his lap with his lunchbox and—
He notices, is all.
