Summary
Long ago, years before Hextech entered the City of Progress and an explosion separated two sisters, two young men grew into revolutionaries and one young woman became their oppressor.
Seventeen-year-old Silco has been an outcast his entire life. Living in the deepest depths of the Undercity with a disabled mother, he barely survived the pollution, starvation, and violence that plagued his childhood. After the sudden death of his father, he’s dragged by Enforcers to the local mines to work off the remainder of his debt. No one in his division expects him to survive—except the giant, silver-eyed man who can’t seem to stop staring at him.
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the river, twenty-one-year-old Cassandra Kiramman is a Councillor-in-training and the heir to one of Piltover’s oldest and richest families. But her enduring sympathy for the Undercity places her at odds with the other Councillors and her mother, Cecilia. Secrets and lies in the Kiramman family make her question her future in Piltover, and Silco’s increasingly threatening presence in Undercity affairs force her to choose between her loyalty to the Council or adhering to her childhood promise of liberating the budding nation of Zaun.

That question is nothing more than a futile attempt to give voice to all the suffering that has built up over time. And yet, silence is the only answer you seem to deserve in this moment. The anger that has consumed you for years has finally turned inward. You wish your gaze could convey all the hatred you feel, but the exhaustion creeping up on you no longer even allows you the certainty that you are justified in continuing this exchange.
