Summary
Jiang Cheng dies protecting Jin Ling on a night hunt and wakes up fifteen years old at Lotus Pier, two years before it burns. He has his memories, his grief, and a short list of things he intends to change this time: keep Lotus Pier standing, keep his family alive, keep his golden core, and keep Wei Wuxian out of the Burial Mounds.
Lan Xichen dies quietly in seclusion and wakes up seventeen in the Hanshi with a war he hasn't fought yet, a sworn brother's betrayal he can't forget, and a cultivation world that has no idea what's coming. He intends to be more careful this time. Trust less easily, and change what he can.
They don't know about each other. They don't know they aren't they only ones carrying this burden.
The spring river flows east regardless of who or what is standing in it. The question is whether anything they do can change their fate.
