The prince's heart warmed at her words. So kind, so concerned, a friendship that had long exceeded his expectations, even making him forget that wanting more from it made him a selfish creature.
Carefully, he placed his hand on hers. Susie didn't pull away, deciding to accept him once again. "I love you too, Susie. I really do," he whispered. “That's why I don't want you to worry.”
“I want to help you.”

Summary
It may seem obvious, especially when the entire philosophy of the Dark Worlds is based on absolute devotion to the Light World and its inhabitants, but Ralsei loves them. He truly loves them in a selfish way, with desires unworthy of an inert object like himself, a fantasy born of desires from an illuminated world.
Perhaps that is why Ralsei, for the first time, does not understand. He does not understand Kris's muffled cry or Susie's broken expression.
[Or something happens and Kris and Susie don't chase the Knight]

The thought caught Ralsei off guard, pushing its way into his mind without warning. Mr. Tenna, as he introduced himself, was saying something about a Game Show, but Ralsei found himself unable to focus. The Lord Of Screens. He looked up at the towering Darkner, his face presented on the screen of his TV head. Cleaved Red By Blade.
...It had to be him. It had to be, and in his chest Ralsei knew it to be true.
Or, Ralsei spends the entirety of chapter 3 stressed out over the Prophecy.

Summary
After their particularly rough adventure, the fluffy boy of the Fun Gang is feeling pretty down. The weight of the prophecy, and the weight of friendship presses down on him, unyielding until a certain someone shows up.
"H-Hey, hey-"
Her voice is hushed and frantic. Her hands move lower on Ralsei’s back, properly getting a grip on his skinny form. The green fabric of his cloak flutters around his legs as he's lifted up onto his tip toes. Susie buries her head into the prince’s shoulder, heat rushing to where her snout presses against his neck.
Ralsei trembles as their hug shifts, their new position being so much more intimate. It’s wonderful and horrible all at the same time. He hates it, he loves it. He wants Susie to give this to someone more deserving, someone real. He never wants her to let him go. It’s wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. He is a Darkner, he should not be selfishly wanting. He should not be–
There is pressure on his back. It moves in a circular motion, unsure but insistent. "A-are you crying?”
Oh. He is, he didn’t even realize.

Summary
The Angel perplexes Ralsei far more than he can handle. How could he understand them? One moment, they are hugging him. The next, they choose to fight for the first time without any prior warning. Between days, they grow more tired, like something weighs them down. Ralsei's only purpose is to serve them and the Lightners, so perhaps he just does not understand how the Angel can change so rapidly. He can never truly understand them, despite trying so hard to do so. Yet, part of him keeps wondering. Curiosity gnaws at him the more time he spends in the Angel's presence.
After a frustrating three days with the Angel, Ralsei cannot make heads or tails of their behavior. They confuse him, and he confuses them. Perhaps, Ralsei was not thinking straight when he took drastic measures. Maybe, he had been too weathered down by the previous day in the church to be able to think rationally. Against his better judgement, he calls for the Angel by name.
They answer, and Ralsei finally sees the Angel for what they are.
