Tom dangled the medallion in front of Harry. “Hypnosis is different from the Imperius curse. It is more akin to a form of Legilimency.”
“Well, brilliant, I’ve always been terrible at Occlumency.”
Or: Tom Riddle uses hypnosis on Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory to manipulate them into believing that they need his approval before they can date. The couple cannot kiss one another or touch without Tom's explicit consent.
And Tom has always been in love with Harry... his precious, fiery Harry. He has no intention of losing the Omega to Cedric. He will do anything to ensure that Harry becomes his husband.

“Oh, Vernon,” Aunt Petunia whispered. Her voice was trembling as she murmured, “There’s been nearly thirty reports. Thirty reports of people dying horribly. Should we be concerned?”
“Of course not!” Uncle Vernon barked. Multiple rough laughs escaped him. “There’s no need to worry. Privet Drive doesn’t have any freaks. There’s only one.”

Summary
During a freak hurricane, five-year-old Tom Riddle was somehow separated into two beings. One stayed and grew into the infamous Lord Voldemort. But the other, the other somehow found his way fifty years to the future. Growing in an orphanage along with a boy named Harry Potter, young Riddle grew fascinated with the boy. And in that fascination, grew a goal: Harry Potter will belong to Tom Riddle. However, many obstacles stand in the way including a cautious Dumbledore, and the other Tom, Lord Voldemort himself, who wants to kill Tom's Harry.
