His mother, recognizing that his father would kill for this ability tells him to never use it again. And he's a good boy, he fully intended to keep that promise, if only the USJ attack had happened any other way....

Summary
Midoriya Izuku walks by his chance for greatness. Told that he can't be a hero by his idol and to not even think about UA by his once friend, he finally takes the realistic option and chooses Shiketsu's support course.
Things get better eventually. He enjoys inventing and manages to make friends. It seems everyone was right, he wasn't meant to be a hero...
But then everything goes to shit and the only way forward is to go back.In other words:

Give Up? Don't Think So by Kocineczka
Follows memory-time-traveller Izuku Midoriya from Nomupocalyptic future where, due to him going to different school, All Might was killed at USJ and other stuff happened. Besides memory Izuku took a handful of Quirks(Overhaul included) for the ride, building them into persona of "chaos deity" vigilante Phantom, while managing to get into Yuuei under "Quirkless" pretense.
Has just the right balance of humor and serious, technobabble is verisimilar.
