Cheryl Blossom is cursed.
She’s cursed to find love herself, to grab it in her hands and hold on to it, fight for it till her fingers bleed and her muscles ache and her feet create scuffs in the ground as she struggles to keep it from leaving, only to have it slip through her fingertips anyway. And so she holds on tighter, closes her fists around it to cling to what is left of it, and by the time she realises she’s suffocating it, it’s already too late.
But, most disheartening of all, she’s cursed to see Toni Topaz fall in love with someone else.

“No one will miss me.”
“Lena, no.” It’s a breathless exhale, it’s furrowed brows, it’s imploring eyes. “No, we need you, we all need you.”
“I know.” A sad smile, a tilt of the head. “But that’s not what I said.”

"Lena is lying on the ground, pale, her face washed-out. Admittedly, she's always been pale - it's just her skin tone. But now, it's a stark contrast to her bright red-colored lips. To her lips and her lower abdomen. Because blood is slipping between the fingers she has placed on the gunshot wound, and it's slowly creating a puddle around her."

Cheryl inhales sharply through her nose when she realizes that being so scared to touch and to tarnish means she's forgotten to breathe.
Without planning to, on the exhale, she says, "You were gone." She swallows around the high press of emotion. "It was dark."
This time, it's Toni's chin that wobbles. She holds Cheryl's hands tighter, like she might know fear too.
"I know," she whispers, painfully raw. "I know. I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to see it." A beat. "I'm sorry you had to live it."

“Shall we team up?” He says. But he’s not talking to Nia, who opens her mouth to answer but doesn’t get the chance to because she’s interrupted by Lena’s little and relieved sigh, followed by a quick yes.
There’s a moment of silence where everyone seems to catch up to the idea. Kelly raises her eyebrows. Alex’s drink stops midway to her mouth. Nia is frowning, looking confused between the two. And Kara knows she’s got her mouth open- because she was about to ask Lena the same question, and she’s just as confused and disappointed as Nia looks right now.

Karolina keeps having bad dreams and bad days and through it all, always, there is the thing with Nico - how she loves her, even if it hurts to admit.
(Karolina is a baby gay, Nico is cool and their parents are still murderers. No wonder she has trouble sleeping.)
