Summary
Xiao's heart is pumping erratically. His shoulder is burning hot, it is on fire. It hurts so bad. Don’t stop, don’t– The traveler's arm moves along his shoulder and he grabs it tighter, desperately. Don’t leave, don’t. Aether smiles at him warmly. So warm, so warm.
A brand of molten iron is being melted into his shoulder blade and his knees buck slightly underneath him. Warm, so warm, the traveler directs a confused look at Xiao until the others land on the Chamber.
You’re leaving, please don’t leave-- I can’t breathe. The traveler lets go and it is agonizing. The heat leaves, and he is cold again instantly, the chill like icy frost. I’m so cold, please come back.
Xiao shivers in the rain, staring blankly at the traveler. He turns back, grinning oh-so brightly at Xiao. “Thank you for saving me, Xiao.” It hurts, it hurts so bad. Come back.
The voices are a chill that flows from Xiao's brain all the way down his body in waves of frostbite. He's used to them, and they'll never go away. No matter what he's tried.

Summary
Xiao materialises in another place before he even realises he’s gone, instincts taking over. His boots meet hard wood floors as he lands gracefully on his feet. Aether’s eyes catch him first, and the glimmer in them causes Xiao’s heartbeat to stutter. It takes him another millisecond to rule out any possible dangers.
By the time he’s standing in front of the traveler, arms crossed, he’s concluded safety.
“Everything alright?”
Aether’s entire face brightens up. His smile is as soft as fleece. “You came,” he says.
Oh. Xiao feels himself soften, too, melting like wax under Aether’s warm gaze. His shoulders lose their cautious tension. He lets his hands hang on his sides. He can’t help but mirror the affection on Aether’s face.
“Of course,” he says. “Always.”

Aether invites Xiao to celebrate Lantern Rite with him. One thing leads to another. Hard conversations are had, and Xiao takes a unique approach that ends well for the both of them.

“Yes.” Dan Heng responds, as though there is nothing more to say.
“And for him. I had sometimes presumed my devotion to my cause is incomparable to any other, but now I have my doubts.” Sunday muses quietly, and Dan Heng's heart lurches.

Summary
Dan Heng reaches for the lower closure of the shirt, giving Caelus' stomach one last longing look before fastening that loop around a knot, then slowly moving his fingers up to the middle button.
His gaze drifts up from the task he seemed so focused on to meet with Caelus' eyes, who now feels the urge to look at his room's thermometer with how he instantly feels a billion degrees hotter. Caelus is pretty sure Dan Heng's wish for his good health is about to go up in literal flames with how his heart feels ready to implode and take the Stellaron along with it.
"I'll fucking die if you don't kiss me right now." Caelus hears himself talk before even processing the fact that this request would kill him dead even further, but it's clearly too late to backpedal with just how blindingly bright Dan Heng smiles at him in response.
"I better kiss you, then."
Dan Heng gifts Caelus a new outfit.
